Please note: we recommend using Scootboots hoofboots with Barolo gaiters, Endurance gaiters or multi-purpose gaiters to prevent injury.
Scootboot hoofboots are made from very strong, lightweight urethane plastic.
Characteristics of the Scootboot hoofboot:
- Easy to get on and off
- Does not become heavy and soggy after walking in mud or water.
- Durable on all types of terrain.
- Excellent grip on the sole.
- No cables, no Velcro.
- Lightweight: a medium-sized horse shoe weighs only 250 grams.
- Good ventilation and breathability for hot countries
- Easy to clean
- Easily adjusts to the hoof throughout the cycle between two trimmings
- No adjustment necessary as the hoof boot stays in place where the hoof does not grow
When you buy a pair of Scootboot hoof boots, they come in a protective bag for easy storage
You will also receive:
- 2 pastern straps
- 2 front straps
- 2 mini gaiters
- spare screws
If you lose your hoofboot, if it twists or rubs, it means you have the wrong size.
Adjusting the Scootboot hoof boot
For the first fitting, take care to wrap the hoof in plastic film and have a large blanket ready: any shoe that is marked, even slightly, cannot be returned.
Open the pastern strap and front straps
Hold the hoof so that the sole is facing upwards and insert the hoof clip into the bottom of the Scootboot hoof boot
Pull the rear part over the fetlocks and place the hoof on the ground. The Scootboot should slip on easily enough. It should be snug, neither too loose nor too tight.
Take the front strap between your thumb and forefinger to stretch it, which will enlarge the hole. Pass the strap through the metal button as you would with a shirt button.
The space at the front of the Scoot Boot should be at least 10 mm.
Close the pastern strap. You should be able to fit at least two fingers between the strap and the front of the pastern.
Adjust the strap if necessary.
Take the hoof and gently rotate it in both directions. The Scootboot hoofboot should not rotate.
If the front straps are difficult to close but you are sure of yourself and it is the right size, use a hoof pick to help you close these front straps.
If the space is greater than 10 mm, this may be due to the new, rigid plastic. After a while, the hoof boot will take the shape of the hoof and the gap will reduce.
Hoofboot maintenance
The Scoot Boot should only be washed with water, without detergent or chemicals.
Store your hoof boots when they are clean and dry in a dry place away from chemicals.
The use of chemicals will void the warranty. Please note: chemicals are found in tape, cleaning products, fly sprays, hoof greases and oils, etc.
If you use a heating tool to thermoform the hoof boot, the warranty will be void.
Available in 21 sizes, for round or oval feet
